This publication reports on a research project to explore factors affecting the outcomes of vocational education and training for Aboriginal and Torres Straits Islander people. Two publications were released: this report to the community and the full report, ‘Culture matters: factors affecting the outcomes of participation in vocational education and training by Australian indigenous peoples’ (TD/ERD 87.131). This community report explains the project’s purpose, methodology, and findings. The project made recommendations to ANTA, VET authorities, and VET providers in regard to course development, promotion, induction, delivery, staffing, support, evaluation, and student assessment.
